Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing privileges are extended to Randolph-Macon College (R-MC) students, faculty, and staff. Retired R-MC faculty and staff, R-MC alumni in Hanover and adjacent counties, Hanover County teachers, and Governor's School students may apply for a card free of charge. A parent or guardian must accompany the Governor's School student on their first visit.

In addition, any adult resident of Hanover County, or an adjacent county, may purchase a library card at a cost of $25 for the first year and $10 per year thereafter. A current driver's license or photo ID must be presented at the Circulation Desk. Please refer to our Public Use Policy for further information.

ID Cards

A current library card (or student/faculty ID) is required for every circulation transaction.

Loan Periods

Loan periods vary depending on the user, according to the following table:

Renewals

Students and community members are limited to two renewals on all material. Faculty are also limited to a single renewal with the exception of books. Items with holds on them cannot be renewed.

Overdue Fines

Students and community members are subject to fines for any overdue material, according to the following table:

Material Fine
Book 25¢/day
Video/DVD $1/day
CD $1/day
Audiobook $1/day
Reserve 25¢/hour
Laptop 25¢/hour + $75/day

Items will continue to accumulate fines regardless of whether the library is open. McGraw-Page Library circulates overdue notices five days a week. Students and faculty will receive notices through their email accounts. Community members receive notices by traditional postal service unless they provide an email address when they register for a library card. Notices are a courtesy and failure to receive one does not constitute the waiving of any incurred fines.

Any item that is not returned by Spring Commencement is listed as lost and a replacement charge is automatically assessed. Fines are not added to this replacement cost. The table below lists the charge for each type of material. Donated items will not be accepted in lieu of the replacement charge, which covers processing as well as item costs.

Material Cost
Book $75
Video/DVD $75
CD $75
Audiobook $75
Journal see Circ
Headphones $30
Laptop see Circ
Media equipment see MIS

Holds

Patrons can request items that are currently checked out. The circulation staff can place a hold on an item and will notify patrons when the material is returned. Items with holds on them are not eligible for renewal.

Borrower Confidentiality

Under Virginia state law, library patron records (as well as circulation transactions) are protected as confidential information. We will not disclose any information concerning your library registration or circulation activities to anyone.
