McGraw-Page Library: Borrowing and Renewing

Circulation Information

Borrowing and Renewing

Borrowing privileges are extended to Randolph-Macon College (R-MC) students, faculty, and staff. Retired R-MC faculty and staff, R-MC alumni, and Hanover County teachers may apply for a card free of charge.

In addition, any adult resident Virginia may purchase a library card at a cost of $25 for the first year and $10 per year thereafter. A current driver's license or photo ID must be presented at the Information Desk when applying.

ID Card

A Randolph-Macon College ID or current library card is required for every borrowing transaction.

Renewals

Students and community users are allowed two renewals through MaconCat. For additional renewals, come to the library Information Desk. Items with holds on them cannot be renewed. You can also renew items by calling the Information Desk at (804) 752-7257

Holds

Patrons may place a hold on items that are currently checked out; they will be notified by email when the item is returned, and it will be held at the Information Desk for seven days.

Returns

Materials should be returned directly to the Information Desk. If the library is closed materials may be returned to Campus Safety.

Overdue Fines & Costs for Replacement

Students and community users are subject to fines for any overdue material, according to the following table:

Material Type Overdue Fine per Day Replacement Fee
Book $0.25 per day $75
DVD $1.00 per day $75

McGraw-Page Library circulates overdue notices via email. Notices are a courtesy and failure to receive one does not constitute the waiving of any incurred fines. Fines continue to accumulate regardless of whether the library is open.

Any item that is not returned by Spring Commencement is listed as lost and a replacement charge is automatically assessed. Fines are not added to this replacement cost. Donated items will not be accepted in lieu of the replacement charge, which covers processing as well as item costs.

Borrower Confidentiality

Under Virginia state law, library patron records (as well as circulation transactions) are protected as confidential information. We will not disclose any information concerning your library registration or borrowing activities to anyone.
