Suggestion Responses

Suggestion:

"I am a transfer student and at my previous institution I was allowed to check out chargers for my laptop + phone. I feel that it's a nice courtesy for students to be able to not worry about when studying in-between classes etc. I would very much appreciate this addition as a frequent library user. Thank ya."

A suggestion to the Library about having chargers available for both laptops and mobile phones

Dear transfer student,

Thank you for your suggestion! We have charging stations compatible with most mobile devices located throughout the Library. They look like the photo below.

We also just purchased adaptable laptop chargers, which feature different charging heads for most laptops and we also have Macbook chargers. Both are available for checkout for 5 hours.

Mobile charging stations are located throughout the Library, on both floors.

Please let us know if you have any more inquiries,

"Maybe try and make calculators and apple iPhone chargers available for check out"

Hello,

Thank you for submitting your feedback about calculators and iPhone chargers to our digital library suggestion response form.

We do have calculators available for check out behind the library information desk. If you ask one of our student employees or library staff members, we would be more than happy to check them out. These have a 2-hour limit on them, but you are welcome to stop back by the library and have them rechecked out to you if you need more time.

To answer your question about chargers, we actually have 3 charging stations with various types of phone chargers. There is one on the first floor of the library, one on the second floor, and one in the 24/7 room for your convenience.

As a courtesy, however, we have just added 2 chargers for a 2-hour check out period. These are designed for quick charging needs – such as while you are studying in the library.

We appreciate you taking the time to make these recommendations, and we hope that you will check out both our calculators and chargers in the future.

"The pillows in the 24/7 room are gross and need to be replaced. People keep putting them on the floors, so they get dirty."

Hello,

Thank you for submitting your feedback about the pillows in the 24/7 room.

While the 24/7 room isn’t just a library space we understand that it is used by many students who also use the library, and we agree! The pillows did look really tired.

We went ahead and ordered some new pillows. These are also washable, so we can keep them cleaner. I hope you appreciate the book theme. 😀

Suggestion:

"Don't put rubber bands on ILL books. I have had them get damager especially softcovers and older books"

Hello,

Thank you for submitting your feedback about ILLs, and I am happy to hear you are utilizing our ILL service.

As far as rubber bands are concerned, we do need to continue placing ILL cover sheets on ILLs since it can be a privacy concern regarding which patron checks out which book. We will do out best going forward to ensure that the rubber bands used are not too tight for the books and use our larger/looser bands for our more delicate ILL materials.

If you have other solution to attaching the ILL cover sheet wraps that you feel would better protect the items, feel free to suggest them.

Suggestion:

Phone chargers should be made available for check-out. 24-hour limit?

iPhone + Android

Hi there! Yes, it's a pretty big annoyance that our phones have to be charged every single night (and sometimes even halfway through the day!). Batteries just haven't evolved the same ways our other phone technology did, sadly.

The Library actually thought about this issues and has purchased mobile chargers and placed them around the Library. They look like this photo. There is usually one on the second floor, one on the first floor and one in the 24/7 Room (aka Werner Pavilion). They are movable though. The Library's Circulation Desk is also working on having chargers kits that you can check-out, so keep an ear out for those later in the semester.

Suggestion:

"Stack of printer paper by the Printers"

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion. If the printers ever run out of paper, you can ask the Circulation Desk staff to refill the printers with paper. We understand the need to doodle or have paper to just scribble onto, so we also have a hefty supply of scrap paper available at the Circulation Desk.

If you have another use for the paper that we haven't covered with this answer, please feel free to reach out to us.

Suggestion:

"Colored paper / pencils"

Hello,

Thank you for the suggestion. The Makerspace prides itself in being a space on campus focused on creativity and technology. That being said, we have plans to implement an arts and craft session to the Makerspace, which will include colored paper and pencils, as well as origami paper and instruction books, and much more!

Look forward to it during the Fall of '24!

Hello,

Thank you for suggesting a new VR game for our list. We will look into adding it to our collection, alongside many others, during our next academic year.
