Engaging with Students
Hypothes.is is a tool that encourages active reading, collaborative annotation and discussions around texts (PDFs and public webpages). It is integrated into our Canvas LMS. Technical and pedagogical details are on library.rmc.edu/teachingtoolkit/hypothesis.
Socrative is an online tool that allows instructors to create effective quizzes and other assessments in order to quickly check their students' understanding and provide feedback right away. It's great for engaging students while also doing formative assessment of their understanding. Socrative is browser-based (no downloads are needed) and works with mac and pc computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

Quizlet is a free website providing learning tools for students, including flashcards, study, and game modes on a variety of subjects like Foreign Languages, History, Math, and Philosophy. It can be assigned outside of class or used in synchronous sessions to enhance interaction and student engagement.
To get started:
1. Navigate to https://www.quizlet.com and click Sign Up to create an account
2. Register for an account, ignore their attempt to up-sell you to the Teacher Pro account, and click continue to free Quizlet.
3. Create Study Sets for your students that they can study any time, anywhere, on the web or on their phones.
