Canvas: Start of the Semester Checklist

 

1. Before You Begin


2. Add content to your course.

 

  Related: How do I use one Canvas course for multiple sections or cross-listed courses?

  • First, select a Canvas course you plan to use.

Note: This course must be an official course (or course shell) imported from the Registrar's system; it may not be a manually created course.

  • Follow the steps to cross-list the course sites - information in video and text.

 


3. Grades and Grading Schemes

4. Clean up the course navigation.

 


5. Publish the course for student access.

  • Navigate to your Home page and enable Student View in the upper right-hand corner.

  • Confirm the course navigation, and that all content appears and is available to students as intended.

  • Click the Publish button on the right-hand side.  Note that published Canvas courses become available to students about 10 days before the semester begins.
