Cameras

  • We have three types of cameras at the library. Digital Video Cameras, Digital Still Cameras, and a DSLR camera. All of our cameras are Canon brand.
  • The video cameras are Vixia models. They are powered by a rechargeable battery and have both an internal storage and an SD card slot where the footage is saved. If a patron thinks that the internal drive won't have enough space, there are two slots in the side of the camera for SD cards, where additional footage can also be saved.

Transferring footage

  • One issue that you may hear about from patrons who have checked out our video cameras is that they cannot transfer the footage from the camera's hard drive to their computers.
  • The video cameras must be in playback mode (where you're looking at the thumbnails of the clips you've shot) in order to transfer. To access playback mode, simply press the button on the left side of the camera that has a square with a triangle in it. Once the camera is in playback mode, when you connect it to a computer via the USB cable, the computer should recognize it like a USB drive.

iPads

  • iPads are checked out with a wall outlet charger and a USB charge cord. Checkouts are for 1 day.
  • The passcode to open the iPads is 7302 (Brian's extension).
