We teach students to produce multimedia narratives, podcasts, weblogs and infographics for class assignments and projects of their interests. Students will learn to conceptualize the production project, use the camera, audio and/or lighting equipment, edit the footage using multimedia software, and deliver/publish the media to meet their production needs.
Project Consultation
We consult with faculty on identifying the technique and format that best serve the instructional objectives. Faculty is encouraged to contact Lily Zhang (zzhang@rmc.edu) for including multimedia assignments in the course syllabus. Students are welcome to come to the Instructional Design & Technology office for assistance in any stage or element of their multimedia projects.
Production Equipment
Faculty and students may borrow cameras, video equipment and audio recorders at the Library Information desk.
Software and Workstations
The Mac and PC computers located in the Library Butler Pavilion have the Adobe Creative Suite installed. The Suite includes editing software for images, audio and video, namely Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere. Acrobat Pro, the common PDF document processor is also included.
Faculty may contact our office (zzhang@rmc.edu) to request the Adobe Creative Suite be made available on additional R-MC office and classroom computers.
In addition to the image, audio and video editing software by Adobe, we teach students to use the free editing programs such as Audacity, iMovie and MovieMaker.
R-MC community members may use Lynda.com for training on using computer applications. Please request access by contacting zzhang@rmc.edu
Video Viewing and Format-conversion
Group- and individual video viewing stations are available in the library for DVD and VHS playback. R-MC members are welcome to use the video transfer equipment to transfer VHS to DVD. User's guide on using the equipment is posted inside the stations.
