McGraw-Page Library offers spaces to suite a variety of needs. The first floor of the library is where most conversation and group work happens, while the second floor is for quiet study. Groups located upstairs should either use a group study room if they will be talking, or relocate to the first floor.
There are six (6) group study rooms located on the second floor of the library. All are equipped with white boards, and some include technology that will allow you to project your laptop, allowing for easier collaboration on a group project.
Group study rooms can be reserved in advance, but if not reserved are available on a first come, first served basis. You can check the reservation status of a room, and make a reservation:
The library provides many different individual study spaces to meet the needs of many different types of work. We provide comfortable booths next to windows, large tables to spread out on, comfortable couches and chairs, private study carrels, and a silent study room. You should be able to find a spot that suits your seating and noise preferences somewhere in the library, and if you can’t, please let us know by emailing library@rmc.edu or putting a suggestion in the suggestion box located on the Information Desk.
Abernathy Room: The Abernathy Room provides 24/7 study space. When the library is closed, students can access the room by the side door using their fob.
Library Lab: The library lab is intended primarily for instruction in the use of library materials, but it also function as an open computer lab.
Oliver Classroom: The Oliver Classroom seats 40 at 20 tables on casters. It is scheduled as a classroom by the Registrar and is suitable for large classes. Tutoring takes place in the Oliver Classroom in the evenings.
Owen Room: The primary purpose of the Owen Room is to serve readers using Special Collections & Archives materials. It is occasionally used for meetings.
PC computers are available on the first and second floors of the library. Macs are available on the first floor, and wireless is available throughout the building. Media pods located in the Butler Pavilion on the first floor are specifically intended to support creative work and are equipped with the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, scanners, and other tools.
Instruction Design & Technology supports a Makerspace with additional prototyping and building technologies, and also supports academic software such as Excel.
