Borrowing and Renewing

Borrowing privileges are extended to Randolph-Macon College (R-MC) students, faculty, and staff. Retired R-MC faculty and staff, R-MC alumni, and Hanover County teachers may apply for a card free of charge.

Any adult resident Virginia may purchase a library card at a cost of $25 for the first year and $10 per year thereafter. A current driver's license or photo ID must be presented at the Information Desk when applying.

Purchase of a library card allows the holder to check out physical materials such as print books and DVDs but does not provide access to library computers or online resources.

ID Card

A Randolph-Macon College ID or current library card is required for every borrowing transaction.

Renewing your Materials

  1. Click on My Library Account and enter your campus login information
  2. You will see a list of the items you have checked out along with their due dates listed under Checkouts
  3. To renew an item, check the box next to each item and click the blue Renew button. RMC students, faculty, and staff are allowed two renewals of most items.
  4. If you are unable to renew the item, please speak to someone at the Information Desk on the first floor of the library

Please note:

  • Community users are allowed one renewal which must be done in person or by calling the Information Desk at (804) 752-7257. Community members may not place holds because they do not have the RMC credentials needed to login to the system.
  • Items with holds on them may not be renewed.
  • To renew interlibrary loan materials, email ill@rmc.edu. Learn more about Interlibrary Loan.
