Printer Tips

Printer Jams

If the printer is jamming, try removing paper from one of the drawers, so that it kicks to the next paper drawer.

Paper Tray Lights

When the paper runs out, the light turns on. To replace the paper:

  • Grab paper from under the Information Desk (located in the cubby to the far left)
  • Open the drawer with the light
  • Replace paper (don't put an entire pack at once or it may jam)
  • Adjust the plastic paper holder slides so that the paper fits (as needed)
  • Close the drawer
  • When the paper is placed correctly, the light should go away, and the printer should resume printing.

Restarting the Printer

  • If the print release locks up, it may need to be restarted.
  • Restart the printer using the power button on the side of the printer.
  • If the print release continues to malfunction, use the PaperCut "Jobs Pending Release" webpage to manually release print items from the queue (signed in on the Information Desk computer).
  • If the printer is unable to print and requires more attention, mark the station "Out of Order" and refer student to the second station.

Toner/Paper

Toner and Paper

  • Printer paper and toner are kept under the Information Desk. The printers are filled with paper each morning but should be refilled as necessary throughout the day.
  • Printer toner should be replaced only when the “low toner” message appears on the printer screen. Follow the directions on the copier screen and leave the empty toner box on the Circulation Supervisors desk.

Students Printing From Their Own Device

Instructions for helping students printing from their own device:

  • Step 1: Download and install Mobility Print (QR code link is above the printers).
  • Step 2: Once the printers are available on the device, put the print job into the print queue.
    • Hit PRINT
      • Selected printer needs to read LibraryPrinting.
      • Default setting is black & white and two-sided.
      • Color must be selected for color printing.
      • One-sided must be selected for one-sided printing if preferred.
  • Step 3: Release the print
    • Log into the Print Release Station with RMC credentials.
    • Find the print job.
    • Under the "Action" column, hit Print.
    • Log out, collect the print.
