Operating Procedures for Information Desk Student Employees

Privacy Policy

  • If a patron asks about an item that is checked out, you may NOT disclose the name of the person who currently has the item.
  • You may NOT disclose any private information about a patron or the items they borrow.
  • You may disclose the date an item is/was due back but no identifiable information on who has it/the class it might be checked out for, etc.
  • Do NOT disclose student worker schedules to non library staff/employees.
  • Do NOT disclose staff/faculty private information, including non-work related contact information.
  • Do NOT disclose any private information that your position as a library student employee exposes you to with unauthorized persons outside of library staff (including but not limited to sensitive research topics, interactions, or information).
