Operating Procedures for Information Desk Student Employees

Searching the Catalog

1. Go to the Library Website.

2. Click on the type of material you are looking for above the search bar at the top of the website.

3. In the search bar type in your search terms.

  • If you are searching for a title, use quotation marks around the title.

4. Use the filters on the left hand side to narrow your search results (format, held by library/held by libraries worldwide, publication year, author/creator, subject, databases, language, etc.)

Shelf Locations

Materials are shelved A-Z using the Library of Congress organization system. See Shelving Books for more information on call numbers.

  • Letters A-H are to the right when you walk up the stairs.
  • Letters H-Z are to the left when you walk up the stairs.
